spring cleaning

I love when the house is clean and smells fresh but I hate cleaning. What’s a girl to do (other than hire a cleaning person)? Here’s the (much more inexpensive) ways I quick clean and then have plenty of time to catch up on Pinterest and Facebook! Happy Spring cleaning!

Organize your closet in 5 minutes a day- Take five minutes a day to get rid of clothes you know you’d never wear. I know I have a ton of reusable bags(way more than I would ever need for the grocery store), pick a couple and note them as donation bags. Each day as you get dressed, take a few items that you don’t wear anymore and throw them in the bags. When they’re full, pop them in the trunk and drop them off when you pass by your favorite donation center. After a couple weeks of 5 minutes a day, you’ll notice there’s extra room and you’ll feel good about having given the items to charity.

Reorganize your bookshelves. Passing by the bookshelf and seeing a load of dust and disorganization always makes me unhappy. Try to place them both horizontally and vertically for a sight that’s more easy on the eyes. Add some bright bookends and you’ve refreshed your reading list and your decor.

Brighten up those light fixtures! There’s nothing more annoying than switching on the lights and seeing the grit and dirt (and probably a few bugs too) of winter gone by. Just do one or two light fixtures a day and in a week your whole outlook will be brighter. The lights will be too!

Freshen the air with plants! They are like a living air filter. Their bright green leaves will clean the air and spring is the perfect time to add some to your busiest rooms!

Add some new accessories! Spring refreshing shouldn’t be all about the cleaning, should it?? Some new patterns or colors that you add to your favorite relaxing spot will bring the spring smiles in and kick the winter blahs to the curb.

Clean or replace your doormats. There are a limited amount of doors in a house usually so this tip is an easy one. They are literally your first line of defense in keeping the dirt outside and the clean in. If there’s nothing else on your spring cleaning list, at least put this one on for a house with less new dirt.

Rubbermaid Mop Full ViewFor your sparkliest floors, I must recommend the new and improved Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop. It is my new best friend (since the floors aren’t going to clean themselves right?!)  It has a 22 oz. refillable bottle (my favorite feature because it’s cost effective and you get to choose your cleaning product) and a washable microfiber cleaning pad (that can be reused 100 times). Additionally, since we have different floor types including hardwood, vinyl, laminate and tile, I love that it gets the job done on all of them.

Need some more reasons to love this mop from Rubbermaid? Here you go:

  • It’s durable yet lightweight.
  • It boasts a non-scratch scrubber for stubborn spots.
  • It’s allows you to dispense as much or as little cleaning solution as you need with a non battery operated trigger.
  • and more!!

This mop really sprays!

One last tip: I have been switching over to more eco-friendly cleaning products and the mop’s refillable bottle is perfect for this. All you need is 3 cups of water, 1/4 cup of white vinegar  and a few drops of lemon oil for a fresh scent. I cannot tell you how clean everything is and I’m saving money too!!

Disclosure: I received a Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop to facilitate the review. No other compensation received. All opinions are 100% mine.
